A Pause Before the Leap
January 9th finds us in that strange post-holiday limbo, caught between the twinkling lights of Christmas and the pink hearts of Valentine’s Day. Time feels oddly stretched as we settle into another snowy week in our cozy two-bedroom apartment. With the flu making its rounds and snow keeping us indoors (more snow on Friday, yay!), life feels like it’s in slow motion.
I came across a meme recently.
“I’ve decided my 2025 starts on February 1st. January is a free trial month.”
Honestly? Same. At this rate, February might just be our first chance to reset and find our rhythm again.
While January feels like a pause, it’s also the beginning of something much bigger for our family. This year promises life-changing moments, new challenges, and opportunities to deepen our faith. After two years of comfortable living here, we know this season isn’t permanent. Our kids need more than this apartment. They need a space to grow, plant roots, and create lasting memories.
Embracing the Challenges Ahead
This year, we are taking a leap of faith and beginning the process of building our dream home. It is something we have envisioned for years, a place where our family can flourish and truly settle. While the excitement is undeniable, the reality of what lies ahead can feel overwhelming at times. There are countless decisions to make and so many unknowns.
Some days, I feel fueled by hope and determination, ready to tackle every challenge. Other days, the weight of it all, homeschooling, parenting, and planning this house, feels like too much to carry. It is a constant act of trusting God’s guidance while putting in the hard work to move forward. One decision at a time, one step at a time, and one brick at a time. It is a reminder that growth is often messy, but it is also where we find the greatest blessings.
Balancing Dreams and Daily Life
We are diving into our fifth year of homeschooling, which brings its own set of joys and challenges. Navigating teaching and parenting is no small feat. Some days feel impossible. Still, there are moments when I see my kids thriving. They are learning, growing, and embracing the world around them. I am reminded why we chose this path.
Thankfully, we have found a wonderful co-op where our kids can connect with other homeschoolers and take fun electives. It also gives me a few hours each week to focus on house plans and meetings. Those hours are a much-needed break, a chance to breathe, regroup, and tackle the endless to-do list.
One Step at a Time
So here we are, standing on the edge of this leap of faith, nervous but hopeful. 2025 will stretch us, challenge us, and, if we stay faithful, bless us in ways we can’t yet imagine. I know there will be days when the weight of it all feels overwhelming. But I also know that every step forward is part of the process. God has brought us this far with a purpose.
Through this blog, I hope to share not just the milestones. I also want to share the prayers, frustrations, and small victories along the way. My hope is that our story inspires you to step out of your comfort zone. Trust the process and embrace the beautiful messiness of growth.
